On the 2017 NBA Finals

Why is there too much hate in this world?

This year's NBA finals is expected and hyped by many. Of course it will be a clash between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. It is expected to be a bloodbath between what is considered the top two teams of the league. These teams are the ones who have manage to win the most and who win the most important games of the season. For someone who is not a basketball fan it might be annoying to see flooding posts, rants and memes in the social media. I myself have witnessed the debates on comment sections and tweets and battle of memes supporting their bets and dishonoring the other team or the other player? It in turn lead me to reflection. Why on earth is there a need for something like this to exist? Is this the end point of human appreciation, emotion and subjectivity? We play favourites. We agree with something and in turn do we really need to be hostile on those who oppose our beliefs?

Basketball is a sport. Sports exist so that man can develop other means of competition that is not as hostile as war (I think) a competition that would lead to brotherhood, solidarity and camaraderie. Is predation really our nature? Is this something that is inscripted in our essence? There is really a need to eliminate those who does not agree with us? What if we treat everything as an art to be appreciated and not as a battle to be won. Basketball is a wonderful sport. Both the Cleveland and Golden State teams are wonderful teams. Different players with different motivations, but what unites them is their passion to play and entertain us.

While I am applying in the Department of Education, as required I took a Psychological test from Dr. Yap. While writing his assessments, he asked me who is my bet is. Lebron or Curry? Of course I answered Curry. Then he asked why. I told him that I thing Stephen is humble and I don't Like Lebron. Then he said its because I am an athlete and I see lebron as an overpowering competitor. And on that moment I realized that he is right. But I still hate don't want him to win.

So what is the middle ground in this case? I still believe that the beauty of mankind is its subjectivity in its preference. Our disagreements is what makes us human. Someone who does not disagree might be a beast of the wild or someone who is alienated from the capability to use his intellect. But the beauty comes from the way we appreciate things and the way we settle our differences. The human emotion is a strong tool for destruction but also an important tool for solidarity. In the end I am one of those who believe that GSW will win :P
